A San Diegan and ICAM student focused on music technology, I began my collegiate journey as a Jazz Performance major at the New England Conservatory before delving into the intricacies of Recording Arts at The Recording Arts Center. Graduating with a diploma in Recording Arts, I also pursued transfer coursework in music and computer science at Grossmont College. Alongside teaching music independently and through various San Diego music schools, I contribute to the UCSD archival recording assistant team. Additionally, I've served as a music college consultant and am eager to assist new students in navigating their college experience! -

After gaining experience from several fields at two different Universities of California I found my niche here at the University of California San Diego as a Music Major with an Emphasis in Vocal Performance. My time here has solidified my plans to continue studying Music at a postgraduate level within the coming years. Outside of class I practice yoga, spend much of my time at the ocean, and continue to enjoy music. -

Hi, my name is Kalea Porter, and I am a second year ICAM Music major in Seventh College. I became interested in pursuing music through songwriting, and I love that my major explores the intersection of music and computer science, both disciplines that I thoroughly enjoy! From performing at ICCA's, attending open mics, interning for the radio station, to attending concerts and studying jazz in Paris, I've been so lucky to immerse myself in the different facets of what music has to offer at UCSD.
